I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Coordinates and performs the clerical functions for the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
a. Receives and greets all outpatients/inpatients reporting for diagnostic testing and notifies the specific department of the patient's arrival.
b. Performs quality assurance review of information transcribed by Central Registration and makes necessary edits according to exam protocols and hospital policy.
c. Works in conjunction with Central Registration staff regarding ongoing changes to the Diagnostic Imaging workflow and EPIC processes.
d. Uses the RIS information system to verify patient exams, track progress and print reports.
e. Answers telephones in a pleasant manner. Will direct all phone calls to the appropriate departments or take and deliver messages as appropriate.
f. Is responsible for pick-up, delivery and distribution of items to and from the hospital mail room.
g. Arranges for non USPS expedited delivery of exam records as requested by providers.
h. Maintains the appearance of the Diagnostic Imaging waiting area and front office area.
i. Promptly and properly uses the department CD burner to burn patient's exams to CD when requested by patients and outside caregivers. Follows the hospital policy for release of medical information.
j. Completes legal and insurance requests for records made directly to the radiology department and forwarded from HIM within time frame specified.
k. Completes electronic recording of all records requests in according to Hospital HIM protocols.
l. Processes electronic transfer of images and uploading from outside exam images and results as requested by providers and direct requests through the LifeImage system.
m. Assists in maintaining an orderly inventory and in arranging for the purchase of needed office supplies.
n. Performs other duties and tasks as necessary for the department.
o. Monitors for WET READ and discrepancy reports and follows policy and procedure for appropriate follow-up.
p. Corresponds with physician offices for delivery of results.
q. Assists with report distribution
r. Monitors and schedules performance and maintenance of general office equipment. Makes service requests as necessary.
s. Works in conjunction with the radiology clinical manager to coordinate staffing for the Front Desk clerical staff.
t. Precepts and orients all new support staff to their role.
Standard Lead Level Responsibilities:
1. Distributes and monitors the flow of work for an assigned group of employees. Provides training and technical assistance to employees within the assigned work area. Assists supervisor in assuring that assigned employees are provided with appropriate resources, materials, and methods. Provides recommendations to manager or supervisor for the most efficient utilization of assigned personnel. Relays work instruction from the supervisor.
2. Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
3. Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
4. Attends variety of meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed.

7. Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
8. Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

Preferred:
1. Experience in a hospital or health care setting
2. Minimum one year of medical terminology
3. Knowledge of computer/windows application
