Description
This is a technical position performing diagnostic ultrasound exams, studies, and ABI testing in the Vascular Clinic. In addition to scanning, the duties include chart review, maintaining data logs, and image processing. Sonographers may be expected to provide an oral or written review of the exams performed. Demonstrate the ability to perform quality and timely routine diagnostic ultrasound studies and render accurate written or verbal summaries. Demonstrate the ability to perform quality vascular studies to include both venous and arterial exams. Assist the radiologists and/or other physicians during procedures by providing assistance with equipment and by providing adequate and appropriate supplies needed to complete the procedure, in the department, in patient care areas, or in Surgery. Participate in the care of the equipment by proper usage and storage of the probes, and maintaining the cleanliness of equipment. Complete and close out all procedures in the computer system daily. Accurately make use of PACS, any written paperwork/logs, and databases after each case. Participate, according to written and pre-determined schedules, in on-call duties to provide Ultrasound services to inpatients and Emergency Department patients.
Qualifications
Graduate of School of Radiological Technology with additional formal training in Ultrasound, or graduation from an accredited school of Medical Sonography. Six months of formal training that includes hands-on clinical applications. Registered with ARRT in Ultrasonography or with ARDMS in a minimum of Physics and ABD/OB areas. Must be Vascular registered. Proficient in all areas of diagnostic ultrasound. Will require standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time. Also involves stooping, bending, pushing, and lifting in excess of 25 pounds. Walking would be necessary, as performing portable exams is a requirement.
