Overview
This position is crucial for supporting Sr. Analysts and Technical Leads in the production, quality control, processing, and technical troubleshooting of remote sensing data across hydrology, forestry, and land cover projects. Analyst-level team members are expected to perform tasks with limited oversight; therefore, it is an ideal opportunity for detail-oriented individuals with a flair for efficiency in high-volume workflows. Responsibilities include raster interpretation, quality assurance, and collaboration on data deliveries in a consistent and timely manner. Analysts are expected to perform technical assignments independently, but also coordinate with production teams to provide feedback and contribute to process improvements for various workflows. Candidates with proficiency in MS Office and experience with geospatial software, such as ArcGIS and/or QGIS, are highly desirable, contributing to our mission of effective natural resource management through advanced data analysis techniques. It is expected that areas of specialty may start to develop within this position.

Work Environment:
- Location: NV5 Regional Office in Portland, OR
- Potential travel up 15-20% of the time
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Works independently with minimal oversight to execute complex GIS tasks
- Performs rigorous quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reviews and finalizes data for client delivery
- Provides relevant training and quality feedback to technicians and contractors using best practices
- Supports the development of training and standard operating procedure (SOP) documents to minimize gaps in knowledge across the team
- Maintains and improves geospatial data to support production editing
- Aids in management of production progress tracking sheets to coordinate data handoffs
- Identifies process improvements and implements solutions through geospatial workflow automation and/or best practice documentation
- Supports archiving of final project data
- Attends trainings and meetings relating to job requirements
- Supports technical team with proven leadership skills in small groups
- Tasks and creates work for technicians, as needed
- Coordination and collaboration with the Team Leader, Project Manager and project team members on the progress of production

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience
- 1+ years of technician or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in a professional work environment
- 2+ years of analysis experience working with ArcMap or similar GIS software
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Ability to read maps, understand coordinate systems, perform raster and vector calculations and make conversions between formats
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s or higher
- Experience with database design and/or working in a distributed database environment
- Experience with hydrographic datasets, including but not limited to hydrologic flowline networks and lidar-derived digital elevation models
- Experience in programming languages such as Python, R, C++, etc.
- Experience with code development, collaboration, and versioning using GitHub
- Comfortability using the command line for running programs, navigating file directories, etc.
