Job Overview:
Trinitas Intensive Care Unit is a collaborative closed 25 bed capacity mixed with medical and surgical cases under a 25-year-Intensivist Care Program. We provide management of acutely ill patients with life-threatening conditions requiring complex assessment, high-intensity therapies and interventions, and continuous nursing vigilance. Our care management consists of care bundles based on evidence-based practices that are executed with compassion and care.
Our experienced Intensive Care Nurses work with all patients and their families to create healing, humane, and caring behaviors in a safe environment while focusing also on patient advocacy. They are supported by a clinical nurse specialist that provides education and the opportunity to learn. They are also assisted by a clinical coordinator who takes charge 24 hours/day.
Qualifications:
- A graduate from an accredited school of Nursing
- Baccalaureate or Associate Degree in Nursing
Required:
- ICU experience OR at least 1 year of Med/Surg or Telemetry experience required
- Current and active New Jersey RN licensure is required.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) is required upon hire
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) upon hire or within 6 months of the start date.
- Required National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification within 1 year of employment
- Maintain Joint Commission Readiness
- Maintain CEUs
- Successful completion of all Orientation Programs.
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- The American Heart Association BLS Certification upon hire
- Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License
Scheduling Requirements:
- Night Shift, 7PM-7:30AM
- Required to work every other weekend and holiday rotation
Essential Functions:
- The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
- The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of their own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others in the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resources and programs available.
- The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.
- The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.
- The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.
- The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
- The Registered Nurse participates in patient teaching and discharge planning. Participates in unit Performance Improvement evaluation activities.
- The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, who utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs.
