Medical Assistant Per Diem - Urology - 129453
Under direct supervision of the Urology nurse manager, Urology nurse supervisor and the general supervision of the clinic providers and licensed nursing staff, performs administrative tasks which requires specific knowledge and training in patient care duties within business and professions code of the State of California and/or the regulations The Joint Commission (TJC).
These duties also include but are not limited to: All aspects of back office medical assistant duties which include but are not limited to equipment management, environmental care functions, cleaning/disinfecting the environment, vital screening, medication review, documentation assistance for the providers, appointment scheduling, patient check-in, authorizations, accurate billing, payment processing, and supply and forms management.
Requires knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics. Position requires initiative, ability to prioritize demands and ability to work in a team environment, team work and a positive attitude. Position also requires qualification to operate scope processor, instrument handling for sterile processing, uroflow, bladder scanner, EKG and other back office medical assistant equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
- BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
- Proven knowledge of medical terminology, online scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics.
- Strong ability to take initiative, prioritize demands and work in a team environment.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Previous experience as a medical scribe or providing EMR documentation assistance for a Provider.
- Strong computer literacy.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Phlebotomy certified.
- Experience in a urology ambulatory care setting with a high procedural volume.
- Experience with EPIC EMR and UCSD Purchasing and Supply systems or relevant systems.
- Previous experience as a medical scribe or providing EMR documentation assistance for a Provider.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $57,671 - $57,671 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $27.62 - $27.62
