Provides nighttime inpatient critical care within the Medical/Surgical/Neuro Intensive Care Unit, in collaboration but not necessarily the presence of a board certified intensivist (e.g., Patient history, physical examination, ordering and interpreting tests, making diagnoses and instituting treatment plans).
Looking for candidates with strong medical or surgical background who possess critical thinking skills and can function in a team setting.
Highly autonomous position with opportunity for various procedures related to the ICU (intubation, CVC, arterial lines placement, thoracentesis, and paracentesis).
Experience with procedures is preferred.
Specific procedures within the Department of Medicine are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience.
No call. 12-hour shifts.
At least 1 year of inpatient experience is required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree or completion of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant program minimum - OR - Master's degree in Nursing.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
Michigan licensure and continued certification by the National Commission of Certification Physician Assistant (NCCPA) - OR - Must be a Masters prepared Registered Nurse with current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Current Michigan state license as Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse.
Current ACLS/BLS as required. Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required.
1+ years' APP experience in critical care/ICU preferred.
