Shift: Rotating Days & Nights (12-hour shifts), Every Third Weekend & Holiday Requirement
Minimum Pay Rate: $37.40
On-Call Requirement
1 year of pediatric/neonatal ICU or ED experience preferred.
Provides direct care and patient care management on transport; implements and evaluates the stabilization and emergency care of the acutely ill neonate, infant, child, adolescent, and adult by Critical Care level of transport via ground and air. Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Maintains a current Ohio Nursing License.

Responsibilities
- Provides continuous monitoring and care of the patient per protocol during transport. Maintains documentation of patient assessment and condition, interventions required, and communication processes on the transport record. Administers medication in accordance with policies and procedures.
- While on transport, initiates direct phone communications between the transport team and the medical control physician to report and discuss clinical assessment, patient status, stabilization interventions, and potential or presenting complications.
- In conjunction with the Physician Consult Transfer Center (PCTC) and NCH Dispatch, organizes rapid transport mobilization and assures appropriate utilization of resources.
- Works in accordance with on-call and scheduling requirements for the Transport Team.
- Engages in the "workplace community" by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings and then reporting important information and updates back to staff.
- Contributes to a continuous learning culture by helping others learn.
- Assists in documentation of medical histories, symptoms, and vital signs for assigned patients.
- Provides high quality services that internal and external stakeholders describe as excellent.
Qualifications
Education Requirement: BSN, required.
Licensure Requirement:
- Licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio.
- Valid Ohio driver's license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children's Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.
Certifications: BLS, NRP, PALS, ACLS. Must successfully complete Trauma course and NCH Critical Care Drug Test, IV Opioid, Hypnotic, Sedative and Anticonvulsant Test prior to completion of orientation. For those with an EMT background, must meet and maintain the role of MICU Driver Paramedic.
Skills: Must pass a "Fit for Duty" Test upon hire, annually, and before returning to work from a leave of absence or FMLA. Must be able to competently perform skills and specialized procedures related to stabilization, care and resuscitation.
Experience: 3 years of critical care experience, required, with pediatric/neonatal ICU or ED experience preferred.
