PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION:
The primary purpose of your job position is to perform all patient exams with the highest degree of skill, fully utilizing all radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment and protocol to consistently obtain images which demonstrate diagnostic levels of radiographic density, contrast, and resolution. You will respond to on-demand requests for service in a timely manner.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT / DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates radiographic and fluoroscopic fixed equipment
- Operates radiographic and fluoroscopic mobile equipment
- Produces the expected levels of production (volume) at reasonable speeds and on schedule
- Repeat rate at 6% or below
- Properly utilizes all radiation protection/shielding procedures for patients and staff
- Properly attends to the physical safety of patients and staff
- Assures all areas are clean and orderly and supplies are maintained for all exams and procedures
- Provides all services to patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
- Utilizes departmental and hospital information systems as necessary for patient care
- Checks PACs after completing each exam
- Prints films/CDs when requested
- Adheres to sterile procedures in the OR
- Exercises initiative and actively participates in the reception area, film library, and transport functions
- Improves performance through education. Maintains required continuing education credits
Provides patient care appropriately to the following age groups:
Neonate - Birth to 1 month
Infant - 1 month to 1 year
Early Childhood - 1 year to 5 years
Late Childhood - 8 years to 12 years
Adolescence - 13 years to 17 years
Young Adult - 18 years to 25 years
Adult - 26 years to 54 years
Sr. Adult - 55 years to 64 years
Geriatric - 64 years +
Evaluates for age-appropriate behavior, motor skills, and physiological norms of the above identified patients. Recognizes patients' psychological development and modifies approaches for the above identified patients. Recognizes potential lifestyle changes resulting from illness that will interfere with the discharge plan. Develops plan accordingly. Identifies increased physical/emotional dependency needs. Evaluates availability of support system for the above defined patients. Assesses patients for signs and symptoms of abuse/neglect and refers to appropriate personnel and/or community agency. Interview/communication techniques are age-appropriate.
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Equal to the completion of a two year AMA approved Radiologic Technology program in a Joint Commission approved facility
- Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice in this state
- Must possess registration by the ARRT in radiology
- Must be CPR/BLS certified
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 1 year experience as Radiologic Technologist. Experience with both fluoroscopy and C-ARM procedures.
