Job Summary
Provides patient care through the provision of direct operational and/or clinical patient services. Pharmacists will collaborate within the department and with other health care providers to enhance departmental and institutional programs. Provides leadership through participation in departmental and institutional committees, participation in postgraduate didactic and experiential training programs, and promotion of the profession. This position will require employees to work weekends, holidays and/or any required evenings. The amount of time allocated to operations and clinical services will depend upon patients' requirements, staffing, and overall pharmacy workload.
Accountabilities
- Provides accurate medication order-entry, drug distribution, and patient care. Confirms the appropriateness of drug therapy as it relates to the care of neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Seeks to minimize turnaround time for products and services. - 55%
- Provides concise, applicable, timely responses to requests for drug information. - 10%
- Supervises pharmacy support personnel; checks and verifies the accuracy of all tasks performed. Staff may also function as a lead pharmacist within the department to monitor workload and workflow. - 10%
- Provides lab review, clinical services, patient education, and corresponding documentation via the departmental clinical initiatives. - 15%
- Provides experiential education and training for technicians, students, and new employees. - 5%
- Represents the department in its collaborative effort to integrate pharmaceutical care throughout the patients' continuum of care. - 5%
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree - BS or PharmD degree
Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses
South Carolina Pharmacist License
In Lieu Of Above Minimum Requirements
In lieu of an active SC Pharmacist license, may be a graduate of an ACPE accredited US college of Pharmacy with a SC intern certificate pending initial licensure or have completed requirements for reciprocity pending board of pharmacy interview for licensure.
Team members employed in this job prior to July 1, 2020 are grandfathered under prior educational and experience requirements. In addition, team members must be certification eligible and will have one year to obtain required certification.
