Job Summary
We are seeking a Full-Time, Onsite Campus Registered Dietitian to join our Food Service Nutrition Team with Chartwells Higher Education at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL (Greater Chicago Area). The Campus Dietitian will drive the food allergy program, provide nutrition counseling services to students and provide innovative wellness program and initiative. As a key member of the campus community, the RD will serve as a liaison to various campus partners, manage food allergen programs and training, and lead innovative wellness initiatives. The role also includes leading all aspects of accommodation requests, supporting students with dietary restrictions, and driving cross-sector collaborations to enhance an inclusive campus dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual nutrition counseling to a caseload of 20 students per week. Ideal candidate has some knowledge and experience in eating disorders/disordered eating.
- Provides nutrition education & training support for the campus community including tabling, lunch & learn sessions, one-on-one counseling, etc.
- Implements Chartwells Higher Ed wellness programming.
- Coordinates with the dining management team and culinary associates to meet dietary needs for all customers.
- Act as the lead expert on food allergen management and dietary restrictions through formal training and continuous education. Assists the management team with menu development and nutrient analysis.
- Initiate and maintain partnerships with the NU Admissions team to proactively connect with students requiring dietary accommodations.
- Advocate for food allergen safety and management through initiatives such as the "Welcome Back Allergen Event" in partnership with the student-led food allergy group, CAFAE.
- Review accommodation requests related to dietary restrictions and medical conditions, providing counsel to students and determining exemptions in extreme cases.
- Collaborates with marketing to ensure appropriate nutrition communication & messaging.
- Leads Dining Services Sustainability efforts - partnering with operations and campus stakeholders to track, improve, and communicate sustainability efforts in all dining spaces.
- Operational execution and oversight - hands-on work in dining spaces to serve guests, train associates, audit systems, collaborate with unit leadership, and ensure excellence in operations and culinary services.
- Partner with various campus offices, departments, and organizations to ensure alignment with university goals and needs.
Qualifications:
- Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) Master's degree preferred.
- Licensed by the State Dietetics Licensing Board in states where applicable.
- Eating Disorder/Disordered Eating knowledge and experience is ideal.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with various campus departments and external partners.
- Experience working with special diets and food allergies strongly preferred.
- ServSafe Manager certified a plus.
