Position Summary:
As
an intern at NJIT Career Development Services, you will have the opportunity
to work with diverse undergraduate and graduate students with their career
preparation and job search strategies.
Essential Functions:
-Work
with students studying in the STEM disciplines as well as liberal arts.
- Gain valuable exposure to the different tools and resources (i.e., Handshake,
TypeFocus, and iStrong) utilized for career development and career
counseling.
- Receive training in resume writing techniques, interview preparation, and job
search strategies for students within the majors represented at NJIT.
- Serve as an important part of the Student Success Team.
- Conduct one-on-one advising sessions with students under the supervision of a
career counselor.
- Participate in planning and implementing a series of events and/or workshops
catered to the success of students in their career development during the
academic year.
- Assist in managing the CDS Peer Mentor Program
- Create your own workshop/program on a topic agreed upon with the Student
Success Team.
- Assist with New Student Orientation programming for Career Services.
- Assist with marketing, social media, and developing educational tools.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Non-NJIT Grad
Student studying psychology, counseling, student affairs; social work, etc.
Must be actively enrolled in a current Graduate Program.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience
prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the
satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and
experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
