Overview Works under the supervision of the Employee Occupational Health Manager. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of team members. Responsible for assessing employees with return to work notes due to injury or illness, assisting with HR and Leave Management for accommodation requests, data entry, maintaining records, performing surveillance of employee accidents and/or illnesses, reviewing and maintaining workers compensation data in a timely and accurate manner, providing annual mandated testing (TB screening and mask fit testing/ PAPRS) and compliance, providing immunizations, urine drug screens, and blood draws as directed by RHS or Facility policies. Provides hands on clinical care to include manual vital signs, medication(s) review, injections and blood draws. Performs clerical and nursing duties in support of Employee Occupational Health functions. Performs other duties as assigned.
What you will do - Provides employee health screenings and services in the region served so that the employees’ health status is effectively monitored and maintained. Performs Post offer assessments to include drug screening, color blind testing, mask/fit testing/PAPRS, vaccination review and updates as needed for the new hire and/or transfers, TB screening process, review of job description and essential functions with employee and determine if any ADA accommodations are needed. Accurately documents all findings in electronic health record within 3 working days and no longer than 5 working days. Performs a variety of occupational health services which include immunizations, blood draws, blood/body fluid exposure surveillance, medical illness/injury triage and basic first aid and drug screens. Maintains CMS/DNV and OSHA requirements of documentation and clinic environment at all times.
- Works with the worker’s comp TPA claims representatives. Represents the organization regarding WC claims. Provides guidance to leaders regarding best practices in preventing and managing injuries/exposures and claims. Works closely with managers to ensure lost and restricted duty days are held to a minimum. Identifies trends, investigates, and makes recommendations to reduce hazards in facility/ organization to ensure safe patient care and working environment. Reviews all EOR’s and processes them to the WC Insurance Company within the 3 day window. Investigates injury for causation, safety issues. Facilitates/oversees return to work process ensuring HRBPs/ Leave Management and leaders are involved in communication as applicable. Works with Leave Management to incorporate any ADA RTW clinical review. Provides Fit for Duty processing. Timely processing of management of WC claims including bill payment. RTW guidelines and plans of action are documented in EMR. Provides timely follow up on cases, claims and bills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practices. Familiar with OSHA and other regulatory bodies, organizational skills, ability to critically think, communicate both verbally and written, able to work independently understanding orders, and have basic computer knowledge and skills with MS Office Suite products. Is responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe environment for patients and co-workers. Follows all infection control policies and procedures. Essential first-aid skills. Assists with the development, implementation, and coordination of Employee Health programs to promote health and safety for employees, physicians, and volunteers. Maintains accurate records, provides communication to supervisors, managers and leaders as required. Timely reporting of any exposure, testing and monitoring of employees and outcomes, reporting to appropriate committees as needed. Provides team member education as needed. This includes education on requiring vaccinations, immunizations, exposures, worker's compensation, proper use of PPE and how this all relates to team member safety. Effectively and efficiently performs employee health program responsibilities in accordance with established RHS policies/procedures and regulatory requirements to ensure a safe environment for everyone. Responsibility includes accurate employee health records.
- Provides excellent customer service to all employees. Collaborates with healthcare providers, Human Resources and managers for timely and safe return to work agreements by meeting the employee’s abilities as described by the treating provider and in conjunction with their job description. Keeps updated on current regulatory changes and workers compensation law updates. Works closely with infection prevention department, assists in safety skills/fairs as needed. Works collaboratively with other EOH offices, providing input and assistance when offsite coverage is needed either in person or telephonically. Effectively and efficiently performs receptionist duties to include greeting and assisting team members, answering the phone and providing other assistance to the EOH department. Demonstrates the ability to build trusting collaborative relationships with multi-disciplinary team to support team member needs. Actively participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings as assigned.
Qualifications Education - Program Graduate, Registered Nurse (Required) or
- Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Preferred) or
- Associates Degree, Nursing (Preferred)
Experience - 1 year RN Experience (Preferred)
- 1 year Occupational Health experience (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications - Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required) and
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
