The EMT Lead provides advanced life support in a prehospital setting and augments various hospital emergency department staff in the emergency care of the sick and injured. Provides assessment and treatment to patients of all ages in a variety of environmentally uncontrolled settings. Supervises other emergency personnel in providing patient care.
GENERAL DUTIES
- Assesses and observes the patient's mental and physical condition and uses sound judgement to initiate the proper treatment and care of infant to geriatric patients. As appropriate, takes patient history, performs physical exams, controls bleeding, provides airway control, restores and maintains circulation, and provides care consistent with the general standard of care as directed and according to the treatment protocols.
- Consistently provides comprehensive documentation on daily duties, patient care provided and hospital charges.
- Checks ambulance and equipment to ensure cleanliness and readiness/optimum working order.
- Operates the ambulance in accordance with departmental policies, traffic ordinances, ensuring patient and staff's safety.
- Observes proper radio procedures per department policy and practices.
- Responds to the needs of patients of all ages and patient's family's needs or requests for assistance.
- Follows departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Required: 5 years of experience as a Registered EMT and Driving emergency vehicles.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (CPR, BLS) - American Heart Association
- Defensive Driving Certification - Defensive Driving Certification Issuer
- Driver's License - Class D - Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles
- Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-Basic) - Louisiana Department of Health
- National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians-Intermediate (“Med Tech”) (“EMT”) (NREMT - Intermediate) - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians
