Hospital Technical Specialist - Denver, CO - Monday to Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM

In a Hospital System spanning several locations, the Technical Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for maintaining system performance and collaborating with each hospital location to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements within laboratory location; serve as a liaison with the Quest Diagnostics Medical Quality Assurance Team and the HCA Laboratory Service Line QA group; and support continuous improvement activities to drive excellence in patient care. The Quality Assurance Technical Specialist requires experience across multiple disciplines within the clinical laboratory, and demonstrated ability to work with and influence laboratory staff, as well as serve as a resource for the Hospital Laboratory Directors, and laboratory personnel in the hospital laboratories.
Pay Range: $86,500 - $155,400 / year
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibility Areas:
- Writes and maintains standard laboratory SOPs that meet regulatory and best practice standards. Supports policy reviews and updates across multiple disciplines within the clinical laboratory.
- Establishes and Facilitates QA Best Practice Team (BPT) to coordinate enterprise-wide activities and drive standardization.
- Participate in enterprise Quality Expert Team meetings.
- Supports development of laboratory skills and competency across the enterprise through development of and coaching of laboratory staff.
- Supports regulatory compliance within the laboratory areas at each hospital location through inspection, audit, addressing any reportable incidences with appropriate correction actions in conjunction with the hospital laboratory director.
- Maintains Quality performance metrics enterprise wide including Proficiency Testing, inspection performance, corrected reports, VFQ's (Variation from Quality) reports, Reportable quality incidents (RQIs), and regulatory reportable events or metrics (i.e. Laboratory Developed Tests (LDTs), supports employee engagement and safety, employee productivity performance, and development of improvements in performance metrics.
- Will manage projects related to improvements identified including on validation processes for equipment and methods, implementation of improvement and standardization of clinical laboratory processes.
- Collaborate with other Technical Specialists to drive overall quality and performance improvement projects.
- Serves on system or hospital committees as requested.
- Supports other disciplines as needed - may be assigned other areas based on need of the enterprise.
Physical Demands:
Physical activities include frequent walking, sitting, bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and squatting. The ability to lift up to 30 lbs. in weight to a height of 5 feet and carrying moderately light loads for a distance of 50 feet. Color vision is required for accuracy in work. Atmosphere and environment associated with a clinical laboratory setting - toxic and/or hazardous chemicals/specimens with unpleasant odors. Ability to flex and work on projects/train on all shifts.
Meet hospital credentialing requirements including hospital required vaccinations (Hepatitis B, Flu A/B, COVID, etc.). Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology with ASCP certification; subsequent to graduation.
- Three to six (3-6) years of pertinent, full-time laboratory experience in a core laboratory or Hospital with demonstrated experience in Quality Management.
- Microsoft skills including MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word are required.
- Advanced education will be counted towards years of experience.
- Experience in hospital laboratories is preferred.
- Experience with online tools: Smartsheet, MS Forms, etc. is preferred.
