The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) 4 located in the endocrinology department within the HBC Internal Medicine Specialties clinic provides organizational oversight for patient education designed to support the accomplishments of departmental and institutional goals. The role of this position is to provide expert nursing care, consultation, quality improvement activities and education to patients with diabetes. This role also provides enterprise-wide evaluation of quality measures, serves on strategic committees, provides support for policy development and supports the outpatient internal medicine team. The CNE 4 collaborates with multiple disciplines sharing the most current knowledge and utilizing sound research for the planning and coordination of nursing care for a specific caseload of complex patients. Acts as an expert resource person for health care providers including nurse, residents, and other ancillary staff.

Minimum Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
- Certified Diabetes Care and Educational Specialist (CDCES)
- Board Certification in Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM)
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Two (2) years recent clinical experience in the specialty area.
- Knowledge and understanding of insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitoring and semi-closed loop systems.
- Advanced knowledge of developing and delivering clinical nursing or health related education and training material for orientation, class training and skill/competency learning and leadership development.
- Advanced interpersonal skills to participate in the development and delivery of new education and training programs and to develop positive working relationships with nursing, health staff, and leadership.
- Advanced organizational and project management skill to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule.
- Advanced skills in written and verbal communications to convey complex clinical, technical, and education/training information in a clear and concise manner, and to produce high-quality reports, documentation, and presentations.
- The flexibility to orient and work at all UC Davis Health Ambulatory locations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-direction and organizational skills to function in and independent role.

The Internal Medicine Specialty Clinic takes immense pride in being one of the country's most productive and dynamic centers of academic medicine as well as one of the largest clinical specialty departments at UC Davis Health. The Internal Medicine Specialty Clinic at the Ellison Ambulatory Care Center houses Endocrinology, Infectious Disease, Nephrology, Rheumatology, and Allergy. Our physicians have advanced medical training, extensive clinical and research experience, and technological expertise to treat patients within their specialty discipline. Multidisciplinary teams from a variety of divisions interact across UC Davis Health through a singular Electronic Medical Record platform to provide comprehensive care and collaborate on innovative research to provide world class care. Our physicians and staff are dedicated to the compassionate practice of medicine and a continuum of care that seamless extends beyond primary care through the specialties. The clinic also has dedicated Registered Nurses, Registered Dieticians, and Pharmacists to assist with patient's clinical needs.
The department of Endocrinology has a vast understanding of treatment modalities for endocrine conditions such as Diabetes myelitis, Thyroid disease, Adrenal gland disease, hypogonadism, Osteoporosis, and PCOS. Our providers utilize current research and Evidence-Based Practice to manage insulin therapy (types, administration techniques, pumps, CGM's), oral medications, growth hormone therapy, and gender-affirming care. There are also subspecialty clinics within Endocrinology to meet the unique clinical needs of our patients. In addition, our physicians and clinical staff can perform Thyroid aspirations in office for patient convenience.
