Core Purpose:
Our site in Billerica is seeking a Chemistry/Surface Modification Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2025 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration. The development of novel membranes with superior filtration efficiency brings a competitive edge to Entegris Products in LMC. It is necessary to study potential methods of surface modification to achieve filtration targets and optimize membrane performance. An Engineer/Chemist could contribute to the project by synthesizing ligand monomers and resins used for hydrogen dehydration.
What you will do:
- Synthesize resins or polymerizable ligands.
- Screen membrane functionalization technologies.
- Collaborate with scientists to manufacture membranes.
- Characterize membrane performance.
- Communicate technical results to the research group.
- Coordinate successfully with scientists at Entegris to synthesize additives, manufacture and characterize membranes.
- Analyze laboratory results and provide creative alternatives to solve technical challenges to functionalize membranes.
- Keep experimental records in a laboratory notebook and report data obtained in experiments in a clear way.
- Optimize time to perform various activities needed to synthesize additives, manufacture and characterize membranes.
You're a good fit if you have:
- Creativity/ingenuity to overcome technical challenges.
- Interest in learning additives/particle synthesis. Basic organic chemistry knowledge needed (chemist or chemical engineer; senior students preferred).
- Aptitude to perform systematic analysis of laboratory results.
- Ability to design and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) with attention to good safety practices.
- Good team attitude to collaborate with scientists to manufacture membranes.
- Communication skills for teamwork.
Additional Requirements:
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Desired Major(s) & Graduation Year:
2025 (senior chemistry, material science, chemical engineering students preferred)
