POSITION OVERVIEW:
RN:
Assesses, plans, implements, directs, and evaluates patient care activities in the Endoscopy Unit. Assists physician during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Possesses and maintains the ability to competently and safely administer IV conscious sedation and to anticipate and recognize potential complications and emergency situations, and to institute emergency procedures. Gives direction to: LPN, CNA, and Schedulers. Receives direction from: Provider, Nurse Coordinator, Clinical Nurse Manager.
Responsible for all instrument processing activities, including decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization of all flexible scopes, other instruments, and appropriate supplies for use. Assists with inventory control and restocking of unit. Completes other duties as required. Receives direction from: Endoscopy Staff Supervisor, Endoscopy RN.
EDUCATION:
RN:
- Degree from an accredited nursing program
- High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
RN:
- Med/Surgical Nursing experience
- Critical Care Nursing experience, preferred
- Previous Central Supply/Endoscopy Tech experience preferred.
- Previous CNA experience, preferred
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:
RN:
- Current MT RN license
- BLS
- ACLS
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
RN:
- Basic Nursing Principles and Procedures
- Basic Office Skills
- Able to properly fill out forms; able to follow manufacturers instructions.
- Basic computer and keyboarding skills
