The Fair Oaks location, which is on the Fair Oaks Hospital campus, is an outpatient physician clinic whose team members work closely and expertly with our medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, medical specialists, and advanced practitioners to serve patients with a variety of cancers and hematologic conditions.
The clinic is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The clinics are closed for the seven recognized Inova holidays and there are no on-call requirements.
Our team members work five 8 hour shifts.
An oncology nurse clinician is a professional registered nurse with oncology-specific clinical knowledge who provides safe therapeutic care in holistic and systematic way. He/she facilitates and oversees the care delivery for patients under the direction of the oncology department manager and in collaboration with the physicians, navigating the patient through the care continuum. The oncology nurse clinician is responsible for the care of his/her patients, including (but not limited to), evaluating the patient at each clinic visit; management of symptoms related to the patient's cancer and/or treatment; educating the patient about their disease; working with other disciplines (e.g. surgical oncology, radiation oncology) and team members (e.g. Intake coordinator, scheduling) to ensure the patient receives the proper diagnostic evaluation and treatment in a timely manner.
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patients, families, nurses and healthcare delivery teams. To help achieve our mission, you will consistently provide safe and therapeutic care in a holistic/systematic way while incorporating differences into the provision of care and conducting all patient care in a patient/family centered manner. Your ability to integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum, to include patient and family education, is of vital importance. Communicating effectively and working cooperatively with others while having respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines is required. Your ability to determine processes for delivery of care from direct patient/family communication, technology and other healthcare team member collaboration is essential.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience.
- Education: BSN or ADN - If ADN then complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
- BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification from the American Heart Association required.
- RN licensed, and eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Proficient in English, strong verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal skill and the ability to display a caring demeanor towards others. Proficient computer skills required.
