JOB SUMMARY
Provides care to patients undergoing cardiac and vascular procedures. Collaborates with physicians and other team members to assess, implement, and evaluate patient care in accordance with current policies and procedures.
Patient Care: Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.
- Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
- Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
Quality: Collaborates with other departments or disciplines to achieve desired quality outcomes.
- Monitors quality of core processes in department.
- Applies the principles of safety and infection control to ensure the safety of all patients.
Communication: Demonstrates superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- Works within a team to achieve patient and team goals.
- Shares and initiates regular and professional communication with co-workers.
- Participates in regular staff meetings.
- Identifies opportunities to improve processes based on feedback from staff and customers.
Medical Knowledge: Provides primary health care and performs selective medical services under the direction of practice physicians.
- Obtains complete history and physical data on patients.
- Reviews patient records.
- Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.
- Performs a complete physical exam and records findings.
- Establishes presumptive diagnosis.
- Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
- Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
- Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or GED required - RN graduate of an accredited nursing program with current RN licensure in applicable state -OR- graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Technologist Program resulting in RCIS or RCES certification -OR- graduate of an accredited Radiological Technologist (RTR) Program and currently registered by ARRT (required). If ARRT certified, the applicant may also be certified in Cardiac Intervention (CI) or Vascular Intervention (VI) in lieu of RCIS or RCES -OR- a graduate of an accredited RCIS program resulting in RCIS certification (required) -OR- other professionals (IE.: Respiratory Therapist (RRT), EMT Paramedic (EMT-P, Cardiovascular Tech) that possess an RCIS/RCES certification or eligible to sit for the exam in two (2) years of hire.
Experience: Critical Care/Telemetry/Hemo/Dialysis background, Cath/EP Lab or Special Procedure experience preferred. RT and CVT who do not already possess one of the above-mentioned certifications will have 2 years from date of hire to obtain. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Licensure: CVN or CCRN for nursing preferred.
Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skill validation and competency testing. Pass Cardiac Dysrhythmias Test.

The job requires constant sitting, standing, walking, and bending/stooping. Frequent repetitive body movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills.
