Cabell Huntington Hospital is looking for a dedicated Burn / SICU Clinical Pharmacist to join our team. In this role, you will provide quality and comprehensive pharmaceutical care to our patients to assure safe and effective drug therapy.
Clinical pharmacists continuously communicate with patients, clinicians and medical providers to prevent, detect and resolve any medication-related issues that may arise. They counsel patients and caregivers on medication use and disease management, safe administration measures and side effect management strategies.
Shift / FTE: Full-time, Day Shifts. Typically, five eight hours shifts Monday through Friday with incorporation into the weekend clinical coverage schedule as well.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in daily rounds with surgeons, intensivists, and other healthcare professionals to discuss patient progress and treatment plans;
- Provide direct clinical services, including medication management, dosing recommendations, and therapeutic monitoring for burn and surgical patients;
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize pharmacotherapy, focusing on infection control, pain management, wound healing, and fluid/electrolyte balance;
- Provide drug-related education to patients, families, and medical staff, including physicians, nurses, and pharmacy residents;
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of clinical protocols and guidelines for the management of burn and surgical patients;
- Engage in research and quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes, safety, and efficiency in the burn and surgical units;
- Precept and teach medical and pharmacy students and residents and serve as adjunct faculty members at the Marshall University School of Pharmacy.

Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy is required;
- PharmD or Master's degree is preferred;
- West Virginia Board of Pharmacy Licensure is required;
- Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy or other relevant Certification to specialty practice area is preferred;
- Specialty Residency is preferred.
Experience:
- No previous experience is required;
- 1 to 2 years of position-related experience is preferred in Burn or SICU.
