PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Dynamic outpatient team member of the Jefferson Comprehensive Weight Management Program at Bala Cynwyd. Provides direct patient care at the outpatient office under the direct supervision of the Division of Internal Medicine physicians at Jefferson Internal Medicine Associates (JIMA) and the Director of the Comprehensive Weight Management Program at Bala Cynwyd.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work closely with the Medical Director and Nutrition Director of the weight and metabolic health program providing medical management of patients with obesity and metabolic disease in a supportive, non-judgemental environment utilizing several modalities including direct patient care, classes, telehealth, and social media support.
- Be familiar with or open to learning about therapeutic carbohydrate restriction and intermittent fasting using real plant and animal-based foods.
- Perform direct outpatient patient care both as a provider and in accordance with State licensure and federal rules.
- Perform phone triage for patient problems/questions for patients under care, and for other patients as requested.
- Function independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for patients.
- Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs.
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
- Participate in all quality improvement initiatives as well as clinical and translational research.
- Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the iSCORE values of Jefferson.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s Degree
- National Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- BLS certification
