Job Overview:
TRMC Adult Behavioral Health Closed Unit is a 27-bed Short Term Care Facility (STCF) designated by the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services and licensed by the Department of Health and Senior Services. The unit admits patients 18 years of age or older who meet the criteria for involuntary hospitalization. Patients are committed to involuntary admission after being deemed to be a danger to themselves or others. They are admitted for treatment and stabilization. The program provides 24-hour-a-day, multi-disciplinary, intensive treatment for patients with acute psychiatric disorders and cognitive impairment.
Trinitas Regional Medical Center operates one of the most comprehensive departments of Behavioral Health and Psychiatry in New Jersey. Working in inpatient units, psychiatric nurses are assigned a caseload of patients and provide direct care to these patients, which includes facilitating social and emotional needs, supervising medication schedules and evaluating patient progress as well as educating the patient and their family regarding their condition. These nurses also supervise the overall schedule of their shift and work as part of an interdisciplinary team whose focus is providing the best possible care for their patients.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Minimum of 1 year RN experience in specialty in Behavioral Health
- An ability to perform all the competencies of the position is required for employment in the position
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Prior experience with psychiatric population
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- Current Registered Nurse License in the state of New Jersey
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
Scheduling Requirements:
- Full-Time
- Evening Shift
- 40 hours weekly
Essential Functions:
The Psychiatric Inpatient program at Trinitas Regional Medical Center (TRMC) is comprised of six inpatient units with a total bed capacity of 110. The inpatient program admits patients five years of age or older who meet the criteria for inpatient admission. The program provides 24-hour-a-day, multidisciplinary, intensive treatment for patients with acute psychiatric disorders, cognitive impairment, and patients with autism and intellectual disabilities with varying medical complexities. The inpatient behavioral health services offer people with acute psychiatric crises who urgently require a safe environment, a supportive and structured milieu, and intensive psychiatric and physiological therapeutic intervention. The treatment program combines these elements into a unique and effective treatment program.
