Schedule: will vary, 7:30-4:30 or as needed for surgeries, will work between 2-3 offices
Job Responsibilities:
- Under physician supervision, examines patients, performs medical history/clinical assessments, and comprehensive physical exams on new and follow-up patients.
- Assists in the development of short-term goal setting and long-range planning for the Inova Health System Athletic Training Program. Coordinates with service line leadership and Marketing staff on patient education material.
- Provides input to enhance Orthopedics and Sports Medicine information/presentations on Inova's website. Serves as a program coordinator for ATC interns and students.
- Organizes and/or participates in group or individual community outreach programs. Provides athletic training coverage for events sponsored by or supported by Inova Sports Medicine.
- Performs therapeutic procedures such as cast application and removal, splinting and brace fitting, crutch and gait training, and therapeutic exercise.
- Orders diagnostic studies or other referrals under the direction of the attending physician. Follows up on patient phone calls when appropriate.
- Assists staff with incoming patient problem calls and outside physician or healthcare staff questions. Maintains an effective recording system to document calls, responses, and activities.
Requirements:
Certification - Certified Athletic Trainer / Basic Life Support Upon Start / Upon Start
American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Providers (CPR and AED) certification, BLS
National certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer through board of certification (BOC)Licensure
Licensed Athletic Trainer Within 3 Months
VA state license or ability to obtain
Experience :Two years as an athletic trainer working in a Sports Medicine Clinic, one year if working in an inpatient setting, one year if working in a cardiac rehab setting; or completion of Athletic Training Clinical Residency Training Program, two years working with Sports Medicine physicians in a clinical setting
Education - Bachelor's Degree Athletic Training or other health-related field
