Job Overview
The Clinical Molecular Geneticist Manager is an integral part of the Children's Hospital Colorado Precision Diagnostics Laboratory team. Advancing our understanding of genomics and providing accurate interpretation of genomics data for effective diagnoses and treatment of our patients. Works with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including laboratory technologists, variant analysts, software engineers, data analysts, genetic counselors, scientific directors, and physicians to provide clinical expertise in interpretation of genomics laboratory test results with primary responsibility for signing out interpretative reports.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, work hours may vary based on the needs of the department. This position has potential to be fully remote if applicant is located within CHCO hiring region.
Qualifications
- EDUCATION: Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.) in Molecular Genetics, Human Genetics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years' experience in broad-based genomic testing interpretation including variant analysis, case review and sign out in a clinical laboratory setting. Broad knowledge of genetic variant databases and their utility is essential with an underlying knowledge of NGS wet-bench techniques as it relates to data quality and interpretation.
- EQUIVALENCY: Combination of education and/or clinical relevant experience: bachelor degree and fourteen (14) years or masters degree and ten (10) years.
- Candidate with extensive experience in whole exome/genome clinical case sign out strongly preferred.
- Ideal candidate will have experience overseeing a diverse team to deliver case sign out at or below expected turnaround time.
- For eligible candidate only - board certification is preferred.
Responsibilities
POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE: No direct patient care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops and coordinates operationally related quality and safety improvement programs addressing personnel competency, compounding, dispensing, and inventory control with the goal of ensuring the safe and efficient provision of services by the department. Conducts quality assurance monitoring and auditing to demonstrate compliance with hospital and department policy and procedures, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
- Develops annual work plans used to achieve goals and performance metrics.
- Participates in leadership activities for division, contributing to the achievement of goals and objectives; evaluates team performance. Defines and maintains internal processes for function; establishes customer service standards and handles operational and customer service escalations for function. Serves as a champion of enterprise-wide culture, influencing culture change to support functional objectives.
- Manages communications to the enterprise on projects and hot topics related to functional area. Maintains effective working relationships with peers in division, peers in other divisions, and senior leadership.
- Assigns and reviews work, provides work instruction (OTJ or formal training) and develops team members. Evaluates performance of team members, providing continuous feedback. Manages discipline and performance issues, hires, and fires team members. Identifies resource needs and develops recommendations for meeting needs.
- Participates in developing budget recommendations, monitoring budget, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Works on highly complex or controversial projects; performs project management activities. Provides technical expertise on programs, processes, and best practices.
- Ensures compliance against federal, state, and local regulations for functional area.

SCOPE & LEVEL: Guidelines are in the form of stated goals and objectives for function. Complexity: Work assignment is unstructured, and leader is responsible for implementing and managing a variety of objectives, resources, and initiatives to achieve the goals of the function. Duties performed include operational planning; developing standards, priorities, guidelines, processes, measurement (evaluation) systems; implementation of production and performance management standards; and allocating resources. Work is tactical and operational in nature.

Salary Information: Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $162,119.18 to $243,178.77. Hourly Salary Range: $77.94 to $116.91.
