Provides quality general and psychiatric nursing care to patients hospitalized for emotional or psychiatric disorders; serves actively and constructively as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, supporting the organization and program philosophy of care, to ensure the safety and well-being of each patient.
What you will need:
Required Education, Skills and/or Experience:
- Baccalaureate Degree or higher in Nursing
- On occasions, an internal or external candidate with an Associate's Degree in Nursing may be considered. The RN is expected to enroll in a nursing program to obtain a Baccalaureate Degree or higher in Nursing within two years; obtaining their degree within five years of transfer to an RN position. Only candidates with strong recommendations and references that have been evaluated as a top performer will be considered for this position. The Director of Clinical Excellence or the Chief Nursing Officer must approve these candidates.
Required Certification and/or License:
- Documented proof of passing the NCLEX and Illinois RN license application upon position start date. State of Illinois RN license must be obtained within 90 days of position start date. If the State of Illinois RN license is not obtained within 90 days of position start date, employee will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
- Current CPR issued by the American Heart Association.
- Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse license. If State of Illinois Registered Nurse license is not obtained before hire, candidate can obtain employment as a license-pending registered nurse and practice under the direction of a registered professional nurse until license to practice is received or until license is denied if the following criteria is met: Official written notification of passing NCLEX and Illinois RN license application, including payment of required fees upon position start date.
- State of Illinois RN license must be obtained within 90 days from the official date of passing the licensure exam as inscribed on the formal written notification. The 3-month license pending period may be extended if more time is needed by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to process the licensure application.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification within 90 days of hire.
