Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Clinical Pharmacotherapy Specialist - Critical Care - NYU Langone Hospital Long Island.
In this role, the successful candidate assists in providing specialized pharmaceutical services to include advising physicians on matters pertaining to drug usage and control within assigned Hospital locations; and participates in the development and delivery of continuing education programs for Pharmacy, Patient Care Services, Medical staff and students.
Job Responsibilities:
* Provides specialized pharmaceutical services to improve drug usage and therapeutic outcomes. Advises physicians on issues concerning drug therapy (i.e. drugs toxicity of drugs and side effects and appropriate doses of prescription).
* Performs other duties as assigned
* Responsible for Medication Utilization Evaluation(MUE)
* Conducts and participates in research. Performs as the primary investigator or co-investigator for research programs which will impact on the delivery of quality care or examine the pharmaco-economic impact of providing care to the patients.
* Individualizes medication regimens using sound principles, accounting for pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic variations in drug absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination with responsibility for establishing and continually improving the delivery of Pharmaceutical Care to patients within areas of direct responsibility and assists others in the department with the same.
* Conducts and evaluates medication histories, assesses compliance and suggests modifications to achieve desired outcomes; instructs patients in the proper use of prescribed drugs and makes Patient Care Rounds with physicians to evaluate patient progress.
* Maintains liaison relationships with medical and nursing staff; provides timely information pertaining to pharmaceutical supplies, drug usage and compatibility, state and federal regulations regarding drug controls, and Joint Commission Standards.
* Mentors pharmacists in training (i.e. Winthrop University Hospital Pharmacy Practice Residents, pharmacy school students) with activities to include both practical and didactic experiences.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Post Doctoral Pharm D. Current New York State Pharmacy License and current NYS Registration. PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Training. PGY-2 graduate with 1-2 years of specialty clinical pharmacy practice experience, OR PGY-1 graduate with a board certification plus 5-7 years of specialty clinical pharmacy practice experience.
Excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, organizational skills. Computer skills (including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). Knowledge of Pharmacy software..
Required Licenses: Pharmacist License-NYS
Preferred Qualifications:
PGY-2 Pharmacy Specialty Training preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $178,240.75 - $198,713.29 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
