Responsibilities
- Provides and coordinates nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process.
- Completes documentation to assure an accurate record of patient's care.
- Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgments, and maintains responsibility for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients.
- Collaborates with physicians and other professionals in planning and implementing care within hospital policy and legal limitations.
- Assesses needs of patients and families, provides appropriate teaching to facilitate discharge planning, and makes the necessary referrals to community agencies to provide continuity of care.
- Demonstrates professional development by keeping abreast of current nursing practice and healthcare trends.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Education: | Graduate of accredited nursing program | BSN degree |
Experience: | 6 months of hospital clinical experience or demonstrated clinical efficiency. | 2 years of hospital clinical experience, with at least 1 year of Emergency Department experience. |
License(s)/Certification(s): | Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in [type in State]. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire. Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. | Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC). *ACLS and TNCC must be completed within 1 year of hire. For ILH and MWH Emergency Departments, PALS or ENPC must also be completed within 1 year of hire. Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN). |
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: | Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Multicultural sensitivity. Microsoft Office - basic computer skills. Customer/patient focused. Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions. |
Other: | Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. Work may occasionally require travel to other UPH facilities. May drive a UPH vehicle, rental or own vehicle. |
