The Bureau of People and Culture (BPC) of the Metro Public Health Department (MPHD) is seeking a Partnership Coordinator to support a five-year, $10 million federal grant program designed to build Public Health Infrastructure (PHI) to include strategies to strengthen our community partnership. The Partnership Coordinator will be focused on coordinating the outreach efforts of all MPHD bureaus, divisions, and programs to meet the goals of the PHI grant.
The Partnership Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Grant Director and will collaborate with the grant team, internal staff, and community partners to successfully meet grant objectives. This involves building trust and relationships with community partners and operating as a liaison for the grants team and the BPC. The Partnership Coordinator will report on efforts to translate data and listening sessions into action, policy development, and quality improvement.
Successful candidates will have a proven record of community engagement and involvement in Davidson County. This position may require attendance of some afterhours networking events.
Responsibilities:
- Internally coordinate across bureaus, divisions and programs, scheduling activities and services to assure efficiency and effectiveness of services across all contracts and community partner initiatives.
- Support efforts to create and sustain relationships with key health-related organizations and community groups representing populations in the Nashville/Davidson County area that have been economically or socially marginalized, underserved, or disproportionately affected by COVID-19 or other public health problems.
- Provide opportunities for direct access, conversation, and engagement between MPHD leadership and the communities, identifying key health needs and opportunities.
- Support MPHD leadership efforts to achieve external partner agreements and commitments to action, and to serve as a trusted public face of Metro Nashville public health.
- Participate in or lead a cross-sector collaborative process resulting in a comprehensive state/community health assessment.
- Participate in focus groups and advisory meetings, conducting listening sessions to develop action plans.
- Serve as primary contact for community partners.
- Develop and implement cross-sector state/community health improvement plans based on comprehensive community health assessments using nationally recognized frameworks and tools.
- Collaborate with Grant Director and Bureau Director to design and implement coalition, workgroup and community advisory group planning and decision-making sessions.
- Provide regular progress reports to the Grant Director and MPHD Bureaus, Divisions and Programs.
- Work with MPHD data team and research analysts to develop tracking reports of actions developed through community advisory groups and community listening sessions.
Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited (4) four-year college or university and one (1) year of responsible, full-time employment in public administration, business administration, public health administration, public health sanitation, public health nursing, public health education, or other appropriate field.

One (1) year of graduate study in public health administration, public administration, or health education may be substituted for one (1) year of experience.
or
A minimum of seven (7) years of increasingly responsible experience in the areas of public health administration, public administration, public health sanitation, or business administration, of which at least one (1) year within the past three (3) years must have been in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
Valid class “D” driver’s license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible full-time paid experience in public health administration.
- Two (2) years prior experience using group facilitation methods with multi-sector groups.
- Skills and work experience in community organizing, engagement and advocacy.
- Experience in communicating health initiatives, including messaging of complex issues, change management, expected outcomes, and calls to action.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health equity, the social determinants of health frameworks; and understanding of social categorizations and their relationship to health inequities.
- Experience working with diverse workforce and populations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
