The Oncology Clinical Pharmacist is uniquely trained in medication therapy management and functions as an integral member of the oncology multidisciplinary team. The Oncology Clinical Pharmacist improves the well-being of patients with cancer by reviewing and monitoring drug therapies, providing drug information to patients and team members, and providing decision recommendations to providers. They will engage in departmental performance improvement initiatives that promote positive clinical outcomes. They will serve as an educator in the instruction of students, nurses, and patients and will be a resource to physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team. In addition, the Oncology Clinical Pharmacist may be asked to participate in the review and approval process for drug therapy research trials. This position will work two 12 hour shifts a week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assesses patient information for regimen appropriateness, duplicate therapy, drug-drug interactions, adverse drug reactions, risk of polypharmacy, lack of drug efficacy, untreated conditions, etc.
- Able to consistently and appropriately document within the systems
- Provide sound clinical decision recommendations based on updated evidence-based guidelines and standard practice
- Implements formulary decisions provided by the OCCC Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee
- Supports in provider, nurse, and patient education on pharmacology related issues
- Supports affordability initiatives to drive high-quality value-based care in line with formulary utilization
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws
- May support research related activities

Required Qualifications:
- Nevada PharmD license in good standing without restrictions
- Oncology experience
- Understanding of oncologics and standard guidelines
- Problem solving skills, Solid communicator
Preferred Qualifications:
- Board certified pharmacotherapy specialists (BCPS) certification OR Board certified oncology pharmacist (BCOP)
- Pharmacy residency experience
- Experience conducting research analysis
Nevada Residents Only: The hourly range for this role is $42.31 to $83.27 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
