JOB PURPOSE:
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively with the medical and behavioral health clinic staff as a telehealth care provider to treat patients suffering from acute and/or chronic mental health issues. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for performing psychiatric evaluations, history and physical, writing orders, providing consultations, short-term medication management, and prescribing treatments.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Educate patients and family members about mental health and medical conditions, preventative health measures, medications, and/or treatment plans.
- Write prescriptions for psychotropic medications as allowed by state regulations and collaborative practice agreements.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and/or nursing staff, to develop, implement, or evaluate treatment plans.
- Develop and implement treatment plans.
- Complete case documentation and participate in peer reviews.
- Participate in activities aimed at professional growth and development including conferences or continuing education activities.
- Conduct individual, group, or family psychotherapy for those with chronic or acute mental disorders.
- Interpret diagnostic or laboratory tests such as electrocardiograms (EKGs) and renal functioning tests.
- Consult with psychiatrist or other professionals when unusual or complex cases are encountered.
- Participate in treatment team conferences regarding diagnosis or treatment of difficult, high risk and acute cases.
- Develop practice protocols for mental health problems based on review and evaluation of published research.
- Refer patients requiring more specialized or complex treatment to psychiatrists, primary care physicians, or other medical specialists.
- Develop, implement, or evaluate programs such as crisis situation response activities.
- Teach classes in mental health topics such as psychotropic medication or stress reduction.
- Monitor the use and status of medical and pharmaceutical supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: MSN, completion of an Advanced Practice nursing program.
EXPERIENCE: Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP). Driver's License with clear record required. Current CPR certification. Multistate counseling license allowing practice in Texas and Arizona.
Experience working with Military/Veteran populations is strongly preferred. Must demonstrate leadership capacity and ability to foster team-building and a supportive, flexible environment. Knowledge of the Cohen Veterans Network model is preferred.
ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer's sole discretion.
LICENSES: Driver's License with clear record.
VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.
OTHER: Must be able to support a remote home office for remote telehealth work. Must be available and willing to travel to various locations with such frequency as the business need dictates. Must be available and willing to work occasional nights, weekends and holidays as required to meet business needs. Willingness to work other duties as required. Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of themselves or others.
