The Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology is seeking a Clinic Coordinator who, in collaboration with the Senior Administrative Manager and Administrative Supervisor, will liaise with key stakeholders to ensure patient visits and procedures are pre-authorized by third party payers, managed care organizations, and HMO's. The Coordinator will troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise, report monthly to Division leadership on authorizations and denials, assist with scheduling, and support short-term outages.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Serves as the liaison for the Division on a day-to-day basis for financial clearance issues.
- Monitors the GI Financial Clearance Inbox and resolve issues that arise.
- Sending necessary clinical documentation to payors as needed.
- Coordinating peer to peer calls when needed.
- Coordinates with Office of Managed Care to arrange a single case agreements.
- Reaching out to patients to verify/update insurance as needed.
- Resolve patient problems or refers patients to appropriate resources.
- Participates in weekly Prior authorization meeting with Financial clearance and Endoscopy stakeholders.
- Collects and analyze data, suggests improvement for data entry.
- Creates and reviews reports for senior level leadership.
- Tracks and assesses workflows based on data and improves efficiency by leading both quality and process improvement.
- Mail certified letters and upload them into patient chart.
- Schedules/reschedules/cancels patient visits and procedures.
- Other tasks as assigned.

- Proficiency in word processing, database, and spreadsheet software
- Ability to use a laptop and personal computer.

- Excellent organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills and ability to multitask.
Minimum Qualifications- High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
- Three years related experience.
- Understanding of changing reimbursement policies and third-party reimbursement.
- Additional education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications- Patient Service Coordinator/Certified Medical Assistant from a JHU recognized Institution.
- Minimum of two years experience in clinical or medical research setting.

Starting Salary Range: $18.20 - $33.90 HRLY ($55,000 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
