Dental Assistant - Prosthodontic Assistant
Location: Alexandria, Virginia
MUST:
- Experienced Dental Assistant - Prosthodontic Assistant
- 2 plus years of current experience as a Dental Assistant
- Must have strong implant experience
- Must be familiar with extractions
- Must have experience with working with EMR
- Must have experience working on patients under IV sedation
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be willing to obtain a CPR certification
- Must be willing to obtain a Certified Oral Surgery Assistant through D.A.N.B.
DUTIES:
The Dental Assistant - Prosthodontic Assistant will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
- Work under a dentist's supervision to prepare equipment for dental procedures, ready patients, and assist the dentist during procedures.
- Perform sophisticated functions such as removing sutures, processing x-rays, and taking oral impressions for crowns.
- Work under the direct supervision of the Prosthodontist.
- Provide chair-side assistance while dentists examine and treat patients.
- Ensure patients are comfortable, prepare them for treatment, and obtain their dental records.
- Hand instruments and materials to dentists and keep patients' mouths dry and clear using suction or other devices.
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments, prepare trays, and instruct patients on postoperative care.
- Prepare materials for impressions and restorations, take dental x-rays, and process film as directed.
- Assist with office duties including scheduling appointments, receiving patients, and maintaining treatment records.
- Assist in specialty areas such as oral surgery, periodontics, and prosthodontics.
- Support and assist the hygienist as needed.
- Help track the inventory of prosthetic supplies and keep storage organized.
- Support the radiographic needs of the Patient Education Consultants, Oral Surgeon, and Hygienists.
- Work area is usually near the dental chair to arrange instruments, materials, and medications.
