How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:
Performs medical services under the direction of the manager of the clinic, in addition to preparing and monitoring the patient. Provides a calm, friendly and personable atmosphere for patients and families. Promotes a feeling of cooperation and concern when dealing with patients and families. Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested. Maintains patient confidentiality. Performs other duties as assigned by Manager or Physician.
- Daily activities may include: weigh and take blood pressure and heart rate and record information in Electronic chart.
- Take history and/or medication information from patient and/or family member for medical record. Ensures information is entered prior to appointment whenever possible.
- Perform EKG, Suture Removal, place loop monitors and holster monitors after completing training. Assists nurses and physicians as requested.
- Maintains knowledge of treadmill, holter event monitor and arrhythmia guidelines. Reports any equipment failure or hazardous conditions to manager.
- Maintain patient area and office in presentable manner.
- Maintains current knowledge of developments in Cardiology, as well as all applicable policies and procedures.
- Assist with referral authorizations for specialists and pre-authorization for testing and ancillary services as directed by licensed staff, provider or mid-level practitioner.
- Perform basic technical clinical and clerical duties relating to the operation of the practice as assigned, such as check in/out procedures, handling office phone calls and scheduling appointments.
- For individuals who are Certified Medical Assistants ONLY: Administer oral and parenteral medications after submitting proof of appropriate education, successfully completing orientation competency validation and under the direct and immediate supervision of the physician.
What We Require:
Education: High school diploma or GED. Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) preferred.
Experience: 6 months in EKG preferred; one year experience in physician office preferred.
Licensure/Certifications/Registration: AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Cardiac Tech, MA or NA Certification preferred.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective communication skills in order to work with the public. Computer skills to utilize database systems to perform job duties required. Must be able to problem-solve. Keyboarding required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
