JOB SUMMARY:
Perform all tasks related to medication dispensing; educate and counsel patients and caregivers regarding medication outcomes; provide drug information services to providers and consumers; serve as pharmacy representative to health center committees as requested; assist in student preceptor programs; participate in research programs where appropriate.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Compliance, Policies, and Procedures:
Is aware and follows pharmacy policies and procedures; contributes to development and up-dating of policies and procedures. - Checking, Examining, and Recording:
Maintains drug inventory level commensurate with utilization with feedback; performs monthly narcotic audits; takes responsibility for organizing drug information resources in the pharmacy department. - Patient Focus:
Appropriately educates patients on medication use; appropriately triages patients to other providers as necessary; provides accurate information to providers and patients. - Communication:
Attends weekly case conference meetings; attends monthly staff meetings; serves on CBHS committees; precepts pharmacy and pharmacy tech students; discusses possible side effects and interactions; treats patients in a respectful and confidential manner. - Problem Solving and Decision Making:
Suggests improvements in daily operations; takes on special projects as requested.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
*Required: Graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE). Pharm.D, RpH or equivalent degree preferred or have passed a foreign equivalency exam.
*Current Maryland State Pharmacy License in good standing.
*Desired: Medication Therapy Management certification; Board certification Disease management.
*Desired: Previous pharmacist experience in a high volume retail setting.
*Attention to detail and sense of urgency.
