We are looking for new grads to accelerate their progression to a high-acuity department through our innovative orientation program. These positions will have orientation in specific departments that will assist in preparation for your career in the ICU/Critical Care. Your professional development nurses will support you along the way and help you grow your professional practice to ensure you have a successful career in your chosen specialty.
Our Level II Trauma Intensive Care/Critical Care unit is a fast-paced, 20-bed unit that provides patient- and family-centered care for a variety of high-acuity patients including post-cardiothoracic surgery, neurovascular interventions, ventilated patients, traumas, continuous renal replacement therapy, post-cardiac arrest care, and more.
Position Details:
- Fulltime, 72 hours biweekly (0.9 FTE)
- 12-hour Day/Night rotation, every third weekend/holiday
- There may be varied schedules depending on the orientation unit
- Prior Hospital or EMS experience preferred
- Enjoy an attractive hourly rate of $37.08/hr as well as generous shift/weekend/holiday differentials
What You'll Need:
- Minimum of an Associate degree in Nursing
- RN licensure to practice in the state of Wisconsin upon hire
- Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment

Job Description:
The registered nurse (RN) focuses on the health and wellness of individuals, families and populations in collaboration with other health care professionals by incorporating evidence-based practice in the management of acute illness, chronic disease, disability, and end-of-life care.
Major Responsibilities:
- Assessment: Systematically and holistically assesses the patient's physiological, emotional, sociocultural, spiritual, and financial status.

- Intervention: Provides competent and innovative patient care and education.

- Professional and Organizational Responsibilities: Accepts accountability and works toward resolving problems or conflicts.
- The RN practices in accordance with the Gundersen Health System (GHS) mission, values and strategic plan.
- Practices the values, components and foundation of the GHS Nursing Professional Framework.
- Demonstrates effective organizational skills with an ability to prioritize responsibilities efficiently.
- Adheres to regular and predictable attendance.

Education and Learning:
REQUIRED: Associate degree in Nursing.
DESIRED: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
Work Experience:
REQUIRED: No experience required.
DESIRED: 6 months or greater previous experience in nursing.
License and Certifications:
REQUIRED: Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the state of practice.
Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers.
Age Specific Population Served:
Infant (less than 1 year), Pediatric (1 - 12 years), Adolescent (13 - 17 years), Adult (18 - 64 years), Geriatric (65 years & older).
OSHA Category: Category I - All Employees in this job title have a reasonably anticipated risk of occupational exposure to blood and/or other potentially infectious materials.
Environmental Conditions: Exposed to infectious diseases.
