Position Summary: This is an in person position not hybrid.
This full-time position will work closely with the Program Director and Academic and Clinical Coordinators to develop and deliver content for courses within the didactic and clinical curricula. Duties include teaching, scholarship, academic advising, service and professional activities. Principal faculty also serve on admissions, curriculum, and student progress committees and aid in student assessment and ongoing program evaluation. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the MSM Mission. This is a non-tenure track position, eligible for multi-year appointment. Principal Faculty will operate within the MSM framework of lifelong learning through innovative teaching, learner-centered curricula, collaborative scholarship, and clinical excellence.
Responsibilities:
1. Serve as course director and instructor for the didactic, clinical, and Board Review courses.
2. Participate as a lecturer/small group facilitator throughout the curriculum, teaching in areas of expertise and program need (Physical Diagnosis, Clinical Medicine Tutorials, etc.).
3. Grade student assignments and evaluate student academic and professional development.
4. Support other PA faculty in other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director.
5. Assist in the recruitment, evaluation and maintenance of quality clinical rotation sites, the faculty development of volunteer clinical preceptors, and the assignment and scheduling of clinical year rotations and electives.
6. Participate in ongoing schedule of periodic site visits to evaluate students on clinical rotation and to evaluate clinical sites and the supervision provided by clinical preceptors.
7. Assist program director and/or his/her designee with curriculum development and ongoing program progress.
8. Assist in the admission, remediation, and retention of physician assistant students during the didactic and clinical educational training.
9. Serve on committees and subcommittees related to education and curriculum and serve as a resource to other committees as necessary.
10. Participate in the ARC-PA application, self-study, and site visits activities necessary in acquiring provisional and continuing program accreditation. Assist program director and/or his/her designee with accreditation documentation and problem-solving activities related to the didactic and clinical curriculum.
11. Support educational research and scholarship to foster a learning community of educator-scholars who will ensure educational excellence for all physician assistant students.
12. Performs other duties as assigned by the program director and or his/her designee.
13. Represent the PA Program within the MSM community and statewide medical community.
14. Participate in national, regional and state PA professional organizations.
