Oncology Research RN
Marshfield Medical Center – Dickinson is a fully integrated medical campus that provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient health care to residents in upper Michigan and northeast Wisconsin.
The oncology research nurse plays a key role in presenting treatment alternatives and an assessment of treatment risks and benefits associated with each clinical trial. The oncology research nurse’s primary role is to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance with each protocol and to assist principal investigators and coinvestigators of clinical studies in coordinating and facilitating the activities of participants in clinical research protocols. He/she is also responsible for identifying clinically significant events through patient assessments and review of a variety of medical documents (e.g. medical records, laboratory reports). The research nurse is responsible for following institutional standards of research nursing practice within his/her scope of duties and responsibilities.
Requires:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN is preferred.
- 2 years of progressively more responsible nursing or medical data management/abstraction experience with a minimum of six months of RN work experience.
- 2-3 years of clinical research and protocol management is preferred.
- Current applicable State Registered Nurse License or Nurse Compact License.
- CITI Course in The Protection of Human Research Subjects certification through Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) within 90 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) is preferred.
- Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) or Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA) certification obtained within six months of qualification.
- CRN-BC (International Association of Clinical Research Nurses) is preferred.
