Minimum Qualifications: Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed Veterinary Technician with 5+ years hands-on clinical experience within an emergency animal hospital.
- 2-5 years hands-on experience supervising teams of veterinary technicians within an animal care setting.
Position Summary: The Veterinary Nursing Manager in Small animal 24/7 Care is an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician that will provide overall supervision of the team of technicians in the unit. This unit is responsible for providing 24-hour nursing care in the Emergency/Critical care area to small animal patients.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:
- Maintain current State of Georgia license as a Licensed Veterinary Technician.
- Proven experience within an emergency critical care animal hospital setting.
- Knowledgeable and experienced with properly handling animals.
- Capable of dealing with stressful situations.
- Able to perform all skills of a Licensed Veterinary Technician.
Physical Demands:
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the day on hard floor surfaces.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provides day-to-day coaching and supervision of the team of technicians in the 24/7 Care unit.
- Handling patients in life-threatening situations.
- Administration and application of anesthesia, drugs, fluids, medications, and immunological agents.
