As a Lead Data Science, you will be responsible for leading the technical direction of the Data Science COE, overseeing the design, development, and deployment of advanced data science models and solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of data science methodologies, hands-on technical expertise, and the ability to guide a team of data scientists. You will work closely with business leaders, data scientists, data engineers, and analysts to deliver impactful data-driven solutions that align with organizational goals.
How You Will Make An Impact
- Mines and extracts data and applies statistics and algorithms necessary to derive insights for Central Insurance
- Oversees the generation of an automated insights generation framework for Central Insurance’s business partners to effectively interpret data
- Reviews departmental recommendations based on the application of various established and less utilized data science concepts
- Develops new means by which deep statistical analysis can be applied across the organization to help solve for Central’s most complex business or data issues
- Shares expert-level knowledge and recommends changes based on industry trends, emerging technologies, and new methodologies and delivers thought leadership both within and outside the organization
- Serves as a leading member on automation and analytical projects, collaborating across various functions
- Leads senior level scientists on the team with the translation of business requirements and establishes best in class solutions for various business issues
- Designs the analytic approach to solving a business problem; helps identify the sources, methods, parameters, and procedures to be used; may also communicate with stakeholders on project scope and timelines
- Gathers and assimilates data according to the project plan; works with the team to discuss analysis and findings
- Reviews data team’s final recommendations, ensuring solutions are implementable in the business
- Executes projects with full adherence to enterprise project management practices by participating in formal and informal training
- Oversee modeling documentation and responses to DOI objections
- Involvement with model deployment including QA testing and validating outputs
- Lead initiatives with third party data vendors
What You Will Bring
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 4 years of related experience
- Or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 6 years of related experience
- Or 8 years related experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong data visualization development experience
- Ability to set priorities and plans to meet business goals and objectives
- Ability to shift & balance strategic, high-level thinking with attention to detail
- Ability to lead, motivate & influence without having formal authority
- Ability to act as a thought leader with a focus on innovative & high-quality solutions
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment with internal /external customers
- Ability to understand, design & implement end-to-end BI workflows
- Strong organizational, planning & problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders and business partners
Preferred
- Experience in performing predictive analytics in a large scale enterprise
- SQL experience
- Programming experience (Python, Java, Scala, Rust, R, SAS, etc.)
- Experience using multiple data systems and sources (such as Hadoop, Spark, Aster, Teradata, etc.)
- Experience with visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL Server etc.
- Demonstrated ability to build APIs
- Exposure to version control, GIT Hub
- Exposure to Cloud computing, AWS, Azure, GCP etc.
