In this role, you will assist in managing patient care, applying your nursing expertise across a variety of tasks. From administering medications and performing nursing procedures to providing patient education and coordinating care, you will play a vital role in our clinic's operations.

Responsibilities
- Assist in the delivery of primary health care services and patient care management.
- Demonstrates competence in the skills necessary to carry out assigned duties.
- Administer medications by all routes.
- Apply Nursing Process (Assessment, Diagnosis, Planning, Intervention and Evaluation - within licensure guidelines).
- Act as a liaison with patients, family and providers consistently demonstrating smooth and efficient telephone communication when covering provider call and scheduling patient appointments.
- Obtain complete history regarding health problems according to protocols.
- Document accurate information regarding health concerns and/or condition from patient or family member.
- Telephone Triage by providing and documenting advice for home care of illness/condition; conducting follow-up phone calls regarding patient's health and progress as necessary.
- Ability to assess urgency of condition for immediate attention regarding illness related calls and assign priority.
- Placement of urinary catheters per license.
- Placement of IV per license.
- Provide patient education regarding health maintenance and medical illnesses following accepted Teach-back method per protocols and guidelines.
- Provide appropriate and timely documentation in the patient's electronic health record using standardized workflows and processes.
- Provide information to appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. health department).
- Evaluate clinical skills and practice of clinical care team.
- Supervision of delegated duties to License Practical Nurse and Certified Medical Assistants on approved clinical protocols.
- Facilitate and support relationships between providers (e.g. within clinic, referring) and with ancillary services.
- Understand inpatient and outpatient specialty procedures.
- Responsible for compliance with precertification requirements.
- Thoroughly understand anatomical impact (phases/stages, thresholds) for clinic specialty services including co-morbidities and influences impacting patient care and treatment.
- Thoroughly understand testing (lab and procedures) values and relationship to patient status with accountability to take next steps, as appropriate to scope and licensure.
- Be aware of what is happening in clinic/department and the organization by attending clinic/department meetings, reading emails and regularly checking information on the organization's intranet site.
- Meet the department work schedule.
- Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, Safety and Risk Management guidelines.
- Maintain compliance with Personnel policies and procedures.
- Monitor environmental conditions in order to secure protected health information.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.
- Behave in a manner consistent with all Compliance and HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations.
- Balance team and individual responsibilities; be open and objective to other's views; give and welcome feedback; contribute to positive team goals; and put the success of the team above own interests.
- Perform other duties as requested by Clinic Administrator to facilitate the smooth and effective operations of the office.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nurses.
- Current license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa for Registered Nurse.
- Mandatory Reporter certification.
- CPR certification.
- Meets educational/competency requirements per policy.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Strong computer skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous clinical experience in a medical office preferred.
