Job Overview:
RWJ Barnabas Health is looking to add a qualified CT Technologist, Per Diem, Evening in Somerville, NJ. The CAT Scan Technician will perform duties directly involved with a variety of CAT Scan procedures, prioritizing the patient as number one, and putting forth the utmost quality as a CT Technologist.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Experience: Three years hospital experience as a staff technologist preferred, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- Must have State of New Jersey License and ARRT.
- CT certification obtained within 12-24 months of hire.
- CPR certified or willing to obtain within six months of hire.
Scheduling Requirements:
- Evening Shift.
- Per Diem Schedule.
Essential Functions:
- Positions patient to obtain study as prescribed by standard operating procedures.
- Able to position all anatomical parts as indicated by the Standard Operating Procedures.
- Performs the preparation in order to ensure the prompt commencement of the procedure.
- Ensures all necessary equipment is at hand prior to starting the ordered examination.
- Under the direction of a Radiologist, instructs and administers cleansing preps and contrast agents.
- Protects patients and other personnel by administering proper radiation protection techniques.
- Protects the reproductive organs with appropriate apparel, if visualization of these areas is not required.
- Transfers and properly positions patients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications.
- Assists physicians in performance of examinations.
- As outlined in radiology policy and procedure and under the direction of the medical chairman, the technologist will have proven competency in the administration of IV contrast media, including venipuncture.
- Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross-contamination. Secures and returns supplies. Maintains room and room’s stock.
- Responsible for necessary equipment maintenance recommendations and troubleshooting when indicated. Keeps all necessary equipment maintenance logs which pertain to preventative maintenance of Emergency service.
- Makes sure all necessary supplies are in room and restocks room accordingly.
- Responsible for patient scheduling and smooth flow of schedule and patient preparation including contrast administration.
- Responsible for quality control of Cat scan examinations.
Uses the computer system according to standard operating procedures:
- Able to enter studies in RIS and HIS, and track cases.
- Able to split and fix studies in PACS as necessary.
- Performs a variety of related clerical tasks as necessary.
- Cooperates with all hospital personnel in a positive and professional manner, maintaining ethical relationships. Maintains a positive and loyal attitude towards employer.
- Rotates shifts covering weekends and on-call.
- Attends in-service training as required by the department.
- Able to attend the majority of educational in-services.
- Explains procedures to the patient and answers any questions prior to the commencement of the procedures.
- Completes all necessary paperwork/documentation prior to submitting the procedure for interpretation.
- Assists in the instruction of student technologists.
- Able to demonstrate technical art to the students.
- Able to evaluate student performance and fill out observation forms.
