ResponsibilitiesJob SummaryThe employee assumes responsibility and accountability for incorporating the vision, values, mission, and critical goals of the organization into their job performance.
Demonstrates intra-procedural clinical competency, prioritization and problem solving skills during implementation of direct patient care. Provides and maintains an organized, sterile field of operation. Utilizes effective communication and interpersonal skills to enhance and encourage collaborative staff and community relationships.
- Scrubs and provides sterile supplies, instruments, sutures and other necessary equipment used during Cardiac Catheterization/EP procedures. Anticipates the needs for additional equipment, supplies and/or instruments by assessing specific patient, physician and procedure requirements and responds by meeting or communicating those needs using critical thinking skills. Maintains awareness of changes in vital signs, EKG monitoring, and hemodynamics responding appropriately to the patient's changes in status and needs. Removing arterial/venous sheaths to achieve hemostasis upon completion of procedure.
- Prepares for Cardiac Catheterization/EP procedures by pulling appropriate equipment, instruments, supplies and ensuring the working order of all equipment. Demonstrates the principles of aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout the invasive procedure (before, during and after).
- Actively participates as a member of the health care team to include orientation and instruction of personnel functioning to the scrub role.
- Participates in the re-stocking and cleaning of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories/EP Lab. Maintains a clean safe and orderly work area and reports unsafe conditions.
- Participates in the planning, orienting, teaching, guiding, and evaluating the function and performance of staff, students and other department orientees.
- Utilizes material resources in a cost-effective manner, recommends cost-saving measures within the department or assigned area.
- Contributes to the recruitment and retention of talented staff through positive role-modeling, fostering peer relationships, and participating in preceptor and/or mentor programs thereby creating an environment for quality practice.
- Assumes responsibility for personal development by maintaining current knowledge of the organization's standards, specialized patient care technology as it relates to all cath lab procedures, and agency regulations. Develops and maintains working knowledge of all technical aspects of the monitoring and specialized equipment used in the angiography and EP Labs.
- Participates in inservices, mandatory meetings and process improvement activities. Practice and performance reflects knowledge of relevant compliance, regulation, legislation certification, and the organization's System and department policies.

Other BLS Healthcare Provider Course Required
Experience10 months Experience as Cardiovascular Monitoring Tech or Scrub Tech/Cath Lab Required
Licenses and CertificationsClinical Other/BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
