Job Summary: Under the direction of the Registered Nurse and/or Physician, the Surgical Technologist handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during complex surgical procedures in the following specialties: Cardiac, Neurosurgical, Neuro-interventional, and Transplant. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
Position Responsibilities:
- Scrubs for, prepares, sets-up and assists during any surgical procedure and provides support to nursing and ancillary departments by transporting and transferring patients to and between units when necessary.
- Prepares instruments and supplies for future procedures.
- Collects and handles specimens according to policy and procedures.
Position Qualifications Required:
Required Experience: One year OR Training
Required Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Training Program.
Training / Certification / Licensure: BLS, Surgical Technologist Certification preferred.
