Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nutritional Aide - Part Time, Evenings (3PM - 7PM, Alternating Days) - Food & Nutrition - Patient Food Services.
In this role, the successful candidate will assemble and break down patient trays, prepare labels, deliver supplements and nourishments, operate and clean tray line equipment and the dish machine in a safe and effective manner, and perform general cleaning tasks. He/she should also produce food products that are prepared under DOH guidelines and meet quality parameters of taste, texture, temperature, and appearance while serving customers efficiently and courteously.
Job Responsibilities:
- Sets up station with utensils and paperware required for the meal.
- Serves food according to DOH guidelines; wears hairnet and gloves.
- Reads patient menu correctly and places food on tray in a timely manner.
- Cleans and sanitizes work stations; restocks appropriately.
- Removes trash, stacks plates, cups, and bowls for warewashing.
- Works in an organized manner so that work schedule is maintained.
- Cleans and sanitizes trucks thoroughly and efficiently.
- Cleans area according to DOH regulations.
- Transports meal carts in a timely manner and delivers trays within established schedules.
- Serves trays courteously and efficiently using AIDET.
- Follows infection control procedures.
- Maintains a clean work environment.
- Prepares coffee for service and cleans unit.
- Cleans tables and service areas.
- Insures that the dining area is ready for service/closed down appropriately at night.
- Maintains paper goods and requisitions as needed.
- Provides appropriate condiments and accompaniments for meal selection; restocks as needed.
- Maintains a level of professionalism and complies with the customers' needs and requests.
- Performs all required cleaning and maintenance functions quickly and efficiently.
- Follows infection control procedures and is well-groomed.
- Food is prepared and portioned in an attractive manner.
- Brings food or cart to event or patient room courteously and efficiently.
- Cooperative and sensitive to operational needs, supports the production and utility functions when needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify, you must have a High School diploma or equivalency. Able to read a patient menu about 4 feet away and serve appropriate food. Able to stand for 80-90% of workday. Able to deliver supplies to the pantries and trays to patients in a courteous manner. Able to work in the heat of a kitchen and dish room. Able to lift approximately 30 pounds.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York State Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $23.14 - $23.14 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentives, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
