Position: Nursing Director - Level 1 Trauma ER
Location: Lansing, MI
Description:
General Purpose of Job: Provides leadership and direction by ensuring that quality, cost-effective, and compassionate patient and family-centered care is provided. Responsible for the daily operations, patient flow, and capacity management. In collaboration with the Medical Director of Emergency Services, Senior Vice-President of Patient Care Services, and other key stakeholders, translates the Hospital and Health System Strategic vision into a clinical practice vision and plan for Emergency Services.

- Provides leadership and direction by ensuring quality, cost-effective, and compassionate care.
- Contributes to the development of the Patient Care Services Strategic Plan.
- Advises the Senior Vice-President of Patient Care Services on nursing trends and deficiencies.
- Facilitates collaborative relationships between medical and nursing staff.
- Represents the Hospital in the community and professional organizations.
- Develops relationships with external agencies interacting with Emergency Services.
- Communicates shared vision and facilitates strategic goals development.
- Creates an atmosphere that supports high performance and teamwork.
- Identifies needs for service revisions in response to external changes.
- Provides direction in Emergency Services management.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Promotes nursing education and research efforts.
- Selects, mentors, and evaluates nursing leadership within Emergency Services.
- Evaluates nursing staff competency and maintains a positive work environment.
- Prepares and monitors the annual budget for Emergency Services.
- Monitors quality and customer satisfaction, initiating improvements as needed.
- Assists in establishing clear department roles and objectives.
Job Requirements:
General Requirements | Current Michigan RN license; National Certification as a Nurse Leader/Executive (in hand or within 6 months). |
Work Experience | Minimum 5 years in a leadership position; clinical experience in nursing; collaborative ability with physicians. |
Education | Bachelor of Science in Nursing. |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills | Strong clinical knowledge; excellent communication skills; ability to manage multiple tasks; proficiency in data management systems. |
