Summary of Job Duties:
Physician Assistant for Cardiothoracic Surgeon will act as first assist in the operating room, answer pages and cover call as needed. PA must have a high level of expertise to perform assessments/diagnosis/treatment of actual/potential problems of patients and skills for ongoing clinical management of the patient.
Responsibilities include:
- Assessment of health status of patients: Obtains a relevant health and medical history, performs a physician examination both focused and comprehensive, identifies health risks and needs, updates and records changes in health status.
- Diagnosis: Formulates an appropriate differential diagnosis based on history, physical exam and clinical findings.
- Develop a plan of care: Provides an acceptable plan of care that maximizes the patient's health potential.
- Implementation of the plan: Plans are based on established priorities and include conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests.
- Documentation and Billing: Responsible for appropriate documentation and billing notations for care that is given.
- Professional Development: Seeks out opportunities to improve skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Graduation from a nationally accredited PA program.
- Physician Assistant license/certification or eligible to apply.
- Must be eligible for prescriptive authority certificate.
- Ability to communicate and interpret complex written and verbal messages.
- Basic computer skills.
