Medical Oncology Team Nurse
Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center - Central Oregon's largest private Cancer Care Clinic group, is looking for an exceptional Registered Nurse (RN) to join the team at their Eugene, OR location. The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $38.00 - $54.40. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc.

Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Provide professional nursing care to patients and working in compliance with the standards of professional nursing, oncology, and the practice.
- Provide assistance to patients' families and caregivers to achieve timely access to quality healthcare within a community oncology setting.
- Assess health status by interviewing patient regarding current status and medical history.
- Collect and record nursing assessment and interventions.
- Review and report the results of the health status assessment and physical examination, pertinent laboratory data, radiographic data, and psychosocial assessment of assigned patients to the provider.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.
- Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Maintain work environment.
- Lead care team huddles.
- Facilitate clinical operations and patient care.
- Lead and coordinate care by delegating to both clinical and non-clinical personnel to deliver high-quality patient care while also following evidence-based practice guidelines.
- Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record the information in the patient chart.
- Assist providers with exams and procedures.
- Maintain efficient and appropriate patient flow in and out of exam rooms.
- Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests, or procedures, referrals, and future appointments for patients.
- Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient's chart.
- Facilitate communication between the patient/family and the interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care, including providing comprehensive patient and caregiver education.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Interprofessional collaboration.
- Assist and collaborate with clinical research.
- Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
- Provide nursing coverage for the satellite offices as needed.
- Participate in professional development activities and maintain knowledge of oncology nursing by participating in ongoing educational opportunities.
- Be the nurse champion for practice-wide initiatives.
- Restock supply area as needed. Follow OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste and any other material potentially infected with a blood borne pathogen.
- Maintain all disinfection protocols.
- Maintain equipment according to quality control standards.
Qualifications
- Associates in Nursing degree from an accredited program for professional nursing education; BSN strongly preferred.
- At least three (3) years experience as a Registered Nurse preferred, but open to new grads.
- Active Oregon State RN; Current OCN certification preferred.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Must maintain continuing education requirements.
