The Ultrasound Technologist is qualified by professional credentialing and/or academic and clinical experience to provide diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. Responsible for the independent operation of ultrasound equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations, under the supervision of the physician. Responsible for daily operations of equipment, patient schedule, maintenance/sterilization, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- Graduate of approved school and/or certification, RDMS/RVT/CCI-RCS certification as applicable.
- If hired after 1/1/2019, obtain Ultrasound Registration within one (1) year of hire.
- If hired before 1/1/2019, obtain Ultrasound Registration by 12/31/2019.
- Department Specific:
- If hired after 1/1/2019, Ultrasound Registered in OB/GYN, Abdomen and Small Parts within one (1) year of hire.
- If hired before 1/1/2019, Ultrasound Registered in OB/GYN, Abdomen and Small Parts must be obtained by 12/31/2019.
- Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 30 days of hire.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Prepares and explains exams to patients while assessing the patient's needs related to comfort, hygiene and range of motion and provides support accordingly.
- Assures that all required consent, history and screening forms are completed and verified by signature of customer and/or legal guardian and/or physician, and/or technologist prior to performing procedure.
- Plans and produces ultrasound images of diagnostic quality on patients with the selection of appropriate scanning and imaging parameters forwarding completed exams to physician for evaluation.
- Demonstrates appropriate level of knowledge and technical aspects of the position, maintaining professional and technical competencies as required by the organization, the accreditation and licensing bodies (where applicable).

- Possess the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with patients and the general public.
