The therapy assistant practitioner will be part of the newly formed Front Door Therapy Team working within our emergency areas (A&E, Integrated Assessment Centre and Discharge Lounge) as well as our new Frailty Same Day Emergency Centre, alongside experienced Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists and Frailty Advance Clinical Practitioners.
Our team aims to maximise an individual’s abilities, with a focus on patient-centred goals, whilst enabling a safe discharge from hospital. With good MDT working and strong links with our community colleagues, our friendly team works together to support patient flow, ensuring a smooth transition between hospital and community settings.
This post would be ideal for someone who has experience as a therapy assistant (Physio or Occupational Therapy) with the required qualifications for this role, or for someone who would like to develop in their career to a Band 4. Training is available to support this opportunity.

The post holder will need to be able to work autonomously, with close supervision/support from a qualified team member, and as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team.
There will be opportunities to engage in service developments and training, and the post holder will assist with the supporting and skill development of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy staff, including assistants, apprentices, and students.
To evaluate patients’ progress and use their own judgement to make amendments to the treatment programme within their scope of practice. This can include home visits to ensure home setup meets patients' needs.
To undertake administrative and some housekeeping duties to support the Therapy service. The post holder will be required to work Bank Holidays & weekends as part of a rota.
