The GYN/OB Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team. The CMA has duties and responsibilities related to patient care in the ambulatory clinic environment.
The Certified Medical Assistant duties include: obtaining vital signs, assisting patients in preparation for examination/ procedure, recording and documenting in the medical record, ensuring safe & efficient patient flow, administering medications and immunizations, and organizing the clinic environment to assure patient safety.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities of the Certified Medical Assistant
- Familiar with medical terminology and documenting in electronic health record.
- The CMA must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of patient care.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
Shift:
Full Time (40 hours)
Day Shift
No Nights or Weekends
Education/Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program preferred.
- One year of experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
- Successful completion of the CMA, AAMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA or NHA (CCMA), Medical Assistant Certification through a nationally recognized CMA accrediting agency at the time of hire.
- Must maintain certification/ registration throughout employment.
- Valid BLS/ CPR certification required upon hire and recertification required every two years.

Salary Range: Minimum 18.15 per hour - Maximum 26.32 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
